How To Apply For Food Stamps In Texas

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is a federally funded program that offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families. The program is run by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Texas Food Stamps Are For

  • People who don't have a lot of money as long as they meet program rules.
  • Most adults age 18 to 50 with no children in the home can get SNAP for only 3 months in a 3-year period. The benefit period might be longer if the person works at least 20 hours a week or is in a job or training program. Some adults might not have to work to get benefits, such as those who have a disability or are pregnant.

  • Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
  • Medicare Savings Programs

After you go to YourTexasBenefits.com:

  • Click on the "Apply for benefits" box.
  • Set up an account.
  • Fill out the form.
  • Send the form to them by clicking a button at the end of the form.

If you need help applying for benefits, call toll-free 2-1-1 or 1-877-541-7905. After you pick a language, press 2. Staff can help you Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
